Individual Consultations

2008-2009 Admission Season

I am available to consult with families on educational issues including admission to ongoing schools grades K-9. My goal is to make the ongoing schools admissions process less daunting for those involved by providing concrete information; answering specific questions about the admissions process and particular schools, both public and private; and providing emotional support for families with their decisions as to which schools to apply and ultimately send their children. I am a social worker, not a psychologist, and while I am very familiar with the format of the ERBs and Stanford-Binet IQ tests, I do not know the questions on these tests. I do not provide, nor believe in, professional coaching for children. However, I am knowledgeable about the OLSATs and types of questions on these tests, which are administered by the Department of Education for Gifted and Talented programs, as practice tests are made available to parents.

Parents may consult with me in my office, or by phone or e-mail. Ideally, I would like to make myself available to answer brief questions at no charge. However, I have learned that a "quick question" over the phone or by e-mail, most often turns into a lengthy conversation. I thus now charge for in-office, phone and e-mail consultations. I have three billing options, which are outlined below for your consideration. Unless choosing Billing Option III, application and/or report reviews, and consultations with other professionals, are billed at the Billing Option I rate. Application reviews take approximately an hour to an hour and a half per school.

Please be aware that I only charge for phone calls or e-mails when questions are geared to issues relating to a particular child's educational needs or about particular schools.

Please note that rates are subject to change in the next admission season.

Billing Option I: Straight Billing
My straight billing is as follows with the minimum bill being $125:

30 minutes: $125
45 minutes: $190
60 minutes: $250

Billing Option II: Two Sixty Minute Sessions and Unlimited Brief Phone Calls or E-Mails

For this option, there is a one-time fee of $800, which includes two 60 minute office visits or full phone sessions, and unlimited phone calls or e-mail correspondences of under 10 minutes each. When phone calls or e-mails run longer than ten minutes, a new fee will be negotiated. Please note that this one time payment is not refundable in any amount even if allotted time is not fully used.

Billing Option III: From Start to Finish

For this final option, there is a one-time fee of $4000, which includes unlimited office visits, phone calls, e-mail correspondences, consultations with professionals, and application and report reviews. Please note that this one time payment is not refundable in any amount.

Of course, there is no charge for calling to clarify how I might work with you, to learn more about my credentials or to set up an appointment.

I look forward to working with you, if you are ever in need of my services.
